Chalmor is a UK-based, longstanding expert of providing retrofit energy saving lighting and heating solutions. Their solutions reduce utility bills and maintenance costs, improve sustainability and the user environment.
The brief
Getting started
Chalmor has been operating for several decades, and in that time their website was neglected. The site was outdated in both its style and functionality, and there was particular concern with the lack of organisation of product data sheets and manuals.
DH were asked to design and build a new website from the ground up, taking onboard the existing visual identity, but modernising their digital image. It was also requested that DH recover the product manuals from the current website and build a user-friendly archive as part of the new site.
Design
Website design
Chalmor already had a brand identity they were happy with, including logo design, colour scheme, font choices and general messaging. It was important to build on and align with this in the website design, while still providing a modern look and feel. There was a lack of existing imagery, so suitable photos were acquired.
Sections and elements were catered to the written information that Chalmor provided. They provide a multitude of services and implement all sorts of heating and lighting products, so it was important to convey bullet point lists in an appealing and engaging way.
Build
Web development
The website was developed (as standard) with maximum flexibility in mind. Employees at Chalmor can each have their own administrative account to upload and edit content. Their product archive was recovered and organised in the admin area.
Chalmor also publish regular newsletters, and so it was important to have an automated system that kept them on record for the general public. DH built a space on the website that pulls email newsletters sent out to Chalmor’s audience, and organises their display.
Results

A brand new website created with a fresh, modern design, utilising Chalmor's visual identity.
Complete recovery of their product archive, organising these files into a new, user-friendly location on the website.
